From Term 2 2024, UNSW students can access the desk availability service on Levels 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7 of Main Library. With more than 350 desks recently fitted with the desk sensor technology, you can check in real-time for individual desks available for studying. This is in addition to the 200+ desks that were installed with the desk sensor technology earlier this year on Level 6 and in the postgraduate study space, Level 4.

The desk availability maps are displayed on a screen in the relevant floor or study space inside Main Library. You can also use your device to see how many desks are available via the Library website. The desk availability display does not indicate which desks are booked or have a computer.

There are designated sections on each level where students can use the desk availability service.

Level 2

50+ desks in the rear Library Study Lounge.

Level 3

90 desks on Level 3 including the new neutral sensory study space.

Level 4

120+ desks on Level 4 and 140 desks in the postgraduate study space.

Level 6

80+ desks on Level 6 for silent study.

Level 7

80+ desks on Level 7 for silent study.

UNSW students can book a desk on Levels 4 and 7. Some desks showing as available may have a booking. If a bookable desk or computer is not in use, check or book it on the spot using the QR code. If someone occupies your booked study space, show them your confirmation email.
