High Use Collection and Short Loans
UNSW students, UNSW staff and affiliated staff can borrow course-specific items under short term loan conditions.
- Find High Use Collection (HUC) items at Law and Paddington Library.
- Find Short Loan (7 day) items on the Library shelves.
Changes to High Use Collection at Main Library
HUC items are now part of the collection on Levels 3 to 7, organised according to the Dewey Decimal Classification number. These items are called Short Loans.
High Use Collection items
Loan conditions
- Loans are limited to two items at a time.
- Items can be borrowed for a maximum of four hours.
- High Use Collection items must be returned within the due time specified on the loan receipt email.
Law Library
- Borrow and return items using self-check machine located in the High Use Collection room on the Ground Level.
- Returned items should be placed on the trolley next to the self-check machine in the High Use Collection room.
UNSW Paddington Library
- Borrow and return items using self-check machine located in the High Use Collection room.
- Returned items should be placed on the table next to the self-check machine in the High Use Collection room.
Fines
Late return of High Use Collection items will result in hourly late fees (or part thereof). For more information see fines.
Short Loan items
Some course specific items are indicated as Short Loan (7 day) in the Library collection. Found on the Library shelves, they have Short Loan labels on the items.
- Search Library collection and refer to the location on the item record.
- Borrow and return items using self-check machines at the Library.
- Items available to borrow for 7 days - for full loan conditions check your borrowing rights.
- Loans can be recalled at any time, remember to check your myLibrary for due dates.
Fines
Late return of lost and recalled items will result in fees. For more information see fines.
